I help my clients to look realistically at the items they own or have inherited.
Often, such items have a high sentimental value; they have been in the family for several generations. My task is to determine whether, in addition to the sentimental value, a given item is sought by collectors, i.e., whether it has a market value.
I deal with the valuation of jewelry. I always present the valuation in two versions:
A. What is the street price, i.e., what is the real selling price of the used jewelry - in the case of jewelry that is not historical or a unique work of art, it is the value of the metal and precious stones.
B. Insurance value, also known as replacement value, this is how much the product costs if you want to go to a store and repurchase it or go to a jeweler and order its production.
I also evaluate old banknotes and coins. My procedure is as follows:
- I check if all of the numismatic items are authentic. Sometimes, copies and forgeries happen that the owner may not know of. Attempting to sell a counterfeit product may result in penal consequences. Better to be sure.
- I check if there are any coins made of gold and silver. If so, I appraise their collector's value and the value of the metal.
- I check if the banknotes are still legal tender, and if so, how much can be obtained by exchanging them for dollars.
- I check if any of the remaining numismatic items are rare and valuable.
- I advise whether it is worth ordering grading or selling them as is.
I also buy ammunition and used weapons. Each transaction is documented with a contract that proves that the customer is no longer responsible for the firearm from the date of the transaction.
As you may know, you can sell a gun to a private person in Florida, but you need to make sure that a person can legally possess it. In the case of purchasing a weapon, I always present my Conceal Carry Permit. The fact that I have such a document guarantees that I have successfully passed a criminal background check and can legally possess a gun.
I also buy used cars, damaged and broken.
Last but not least, I buy gift cards. I am looking for cards for gas stations, Walmart, Target, Publix, Visa, etc. I pay up to 80% of the balance on the card.
